I've spent nearly two decades building programs inside institutions, from professional sports to national nonprofits, and every one was designed to outlast me. But it was becoming a mother that changed the question. Raising a young daughter in a world that moves fast, I went looking for something that didn't exist: a daily practice that made empathy as natural as bedtime stories. Not an app that entertained her, but a system that shaped her. So I built it.

KIND Cities is a federally filed certification framework that measures and credentials kindness in municipal governance. Cities pursue and earn certification the same way buildings pursue LEED, on an outcomes-based, nonpartisan methodology. A conservative city investing in faith-based community hubs and a progressive city funding universal pre-K can both earn credit. The question is not how a city gets there. The question is whether residents are thriving.
